A Brief History
Surge first got together back in 1992, in Hampshire, UK. Originally an instrumental trio consisting of brothers Andy Bell, Dave Bell and Ray Lawrence. Surge released their first album in the mid-nineties - Emergence with Diversity Recordings, after winning a recording contract deal through the Melody Maker.
In 1997 Surge moved on from Diversity and signed a deal with Millennium Records. Initially Surge released an album under a different guise Fragile titled Imperfection of material they had amassed between Diversity and Millennium, on hindsight this should have really been a Surge album and the band thinks of it this way today.
For their third album Surge teamed up with vocalists Sally Strawberry and Becky Kaye the result being Wreckage, released in 2000. Surge never managed to promote this album with a tour as external and financial pressures forced the band to split.
